The Grand Cru Kanzlerberg is the smallest Grand Cru vineyard of Alsace (3.4 ha). It is located in the commune of Bergheim, to the west of the Grand Cru Altenberg, offering a south-west exposure. The very heavy, clay-limestone soil is composed of gray marl, Keuper black gypsum marl and limestone from the Muschelkalk.
With its yellow color and golden reflections, this Pinot Gris Grand Cru Kanzlerberg is very expressive and complex on the nose, with a character of ripe yellow fruits, notes of Mirabelle plums, dried pears and hazelnuts. The attack is smooth, with a powerful structure on the palate, featuring honeyed flavors combined with a hint of soft spices.
